Our VP of Human Resources will play a pivotal role in developing and executing human resource and business strategies necessary to support the objectives of our evolving and values-driven organization. The VP of HR provides strategic leadership by articulating HR needs and plans to the executive management team, shareholders and the board of directors/managers. As a member of our Senior Leadership Team, the VP of HR will collaboratively support strategic initiatives that help Desert Financial connect with, develop, and care for its employees. Working in collaboration with others on the senior management team, the VP of HR will drive organizational performance in full alignment with the strategic business goals, the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Who you are…

You’re an out-of-the-box thinker who has an insatiable zest for perfecting the full-lifecycle of the employee experience. In fact, you’ve made a thriving career out of this passion, by providing others the roadmap for success through strategic creation and delivery of Talent Acquisition and Total Rewards programs. Throughout your career in Human Resources (with at least five years in a C-level, SVP or VP role) you’ve developed a deep cross-functional understanding of business with a P&L orientation.

You’ve successfully led high-impact Human Resources teams and have the data to back that up. You have the unique ability to fly at 25,000 feet in shaping Talent Acquisition and Total Rewards strategies, while diving down to 'sea level' in coaching the team to execute in daily work.

As a VP of Human Resources, a typical week might include the following… 

Partner & influencer. As a Big Thinker, you’ll establish HR strategy in consultation with Senior Leadership, ensuring execution of both long-term and short-term talent and learning solutions that directly support and enable organizational objectives, thus driving employee performance. You’ll ensure the implementation of effective talent attraction, total rewards and learning programs to promote the culture, exemplify our core values and get results.

Team management. Champion Human Resource operations through collaborative guidance of Human Resource management and individual contributors. Protect and promote the Talent Management and Total Rewards teams and support any and all functions that include but are not limited to: executive compensation, talent acquisition, career development, employee retention, training, leadership development, succession planning, and benefits.

HR trends and technology enablement. You’ll use your hunger for growth by staying ahead of the curve in emerging talent and total rewards trends and technology. Your data-driven approach will help strengthen programs that shape the culture of our organization while mapping back to our Mission, Vision, and Values. A solid culture elevates employee engagement, resulting in higher employee loyalty and retention.

Drive organizational success. Using your business acumen and People Smarts, you’ll lead the facilitation of discussions surrounding Human Resource strategy, needs, and plans to the Executive Management team and Board of Directors. Your proven ability to present complex or controversial topics to individuals and groups of all sizes, as well as to influence all levels of management will be key to your success.


This role might be for you if you have…

10 years of progressive Human Resources Management experience to include: Employee Relations, Compensation & Benefits, Recruiting, HRIS/HRM systems, Compensation structure/analysis, Succession planning. At least five years in a C-level, SVP, or VP role is required.

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related management field.

Technological savvy to drive efficiencies and to engage the workforce through innovations in technology solutions. Knowledge and experience in implementing HRIS/HRM systems, processes, assessments and methodologies including Oracle and Ultimate Software.

Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle a multitude of tasks, and adapt to change while balancing your strong empathy and high emotional intelligence.


Bonus Points: 

You currently live in the greater Phoenix area.

You’ve earned or are currently working towards a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related management field.

Learning & Development experience preferred.

SHRM-MCP, SHRM-SCP, and/or PHR certifications.
