The Technical Project Manager is responsible for managing assigned projects utilizing the processes, guidelines, systems, templates and forms set forth by the Project Management Office (PMO). The Technical Project Manager is expected to manage several high complexity projects and/or programs simultaneously and lead medium-large sized project teams (10-100 people).  In addition, the Technical Project Manager is expected to be a leader within the PMO and therefore lead by example in presence, communication, and professionalism.              

What you will do here

Work with cross-functional business client and IT teams to understand, document and communicate project objectives, scope, functional and technical requirements, milestones, deliverables, schedule and cost estimates.

Manage complex system interfaces, file exchanges, integrations, configuration and testing.

Act as technical liaison with architecture, engineering, operations and development teams.

Uses technical acumen to ask probing questions and to support the technical team with issue resolution. 

When applicable, coordinate vendor evaluations and demonstrations; and support vendor negotiations, vendor deliverable tracking and invoice processing.   

Monitor and control each project by tracking, reviewing and communicating progress to project stakeholders to include risk and issue management, decision and action item tracking.

Prepare for and lead project team meetings. Including creation and distribution of meeting agendas and meeting notes.

Assists the PMO Director as needed, including (but not limited to): acting as a mentor to the PMO team, reviewing PM candidate resumes and providing feedback, participating in PM interviews, onboarding/training new PMs, and partnering with other members of the PMO to identify best practices and new project management trends and ideas.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.



Qualifications

What you will need

Bachelor's degree in Business or Information Technology.

Master's degree in Business or Information Technology preferred.

8 years of experience in managing cross-functional or enterprise-wide projects with some or all of the following technologies: Windows or Linux-based operating systems, virtualization, distributed computing hardware technologies, network technologies (SDN, firewalls, load balancers, WAN, WiFi), active directory, SAN storage and storage solutions, messaging and collaboration software, virtual desktops solutions (VDI), backup and restoration services, and disaster recovery services. Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple large complexity projects at once with minimal oversight.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. If not currently certified, must obtain within one year of employment.

Banking/Financial industry experience preferred.

Agile Scrum Master (CSM) and Lean Six Sigma training experience or certification preferred.

Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of staff and management.

Confidence in leading medium-large sized project teams and meetings.

Attention to detail and ability to work across functions.

Ability to prioritize work within time constraints.

Strong organizational and follow-up skills.

Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.

Experience with both Waterfall and Agile project methodologies.

Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point, Project, SharePoint, and Visio); Experience working with HP Application Lifecycle Management (HP ALM) and Atlassian JIRA.
