A typical day might include the following...
Update and handle all bankruptcy data on members affected by bankruptcy, confirming member information is accurate and complete in accordance with established guidelines per department practice.
 
Prepare initial drafts of proofs of claim for attorney(s)/paralegal on all Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases, including Motion for Relief referrals from Stay and Reaffirmation Agreements, and documents per legal department staff requests.
 
Process credit reporting disputes and make credit corrections through eOscar based on the metric report findings, maintaining bankruptcy queues to ensure required policies, procedures, and time sensitive requirements are met.
 
Correspond with attorney's offices, trustees, borrowers and borrowers counsel regarding necessary information/issues related to bankruptcy cases, and coordinate the necessary filings. Review and maintain status on progress of the credit union’s filings and position in the case.
 
Collaborate, communicate and respond to internal partners, external clients/vendors, and members to ensure a superior member experience and understanding of the departments functions. Open and process all bankruptcy mailings.
 
Cross-train to assist with responding to subpoena requests as needed.
 
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
 
This might be for you if you have... 
High School Diploma or GED
1 year of experience with Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to handle detailed work, confidential information, and provide consistent follow up.
Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships.
 
Bonus points if you have...
Paralegal experience working with Bankruptcy cases.
 
Knowledge Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
