Consumer Loan Credit Manager
Who you are:
You're a detailed orientated leader who excels in ensuring your team maintains credit quality, compliance, adherence and support in the achievement of meeting established loan production goals. The Credit Manager is responsible for the daily oversight of the credit unions consumer and express business loan underwriters.
What you will do here:
Provide leadership and direction to direct reports daily to maintain a high level of production, quality, and member happiness. Includes informal mentoring sessions and providing support for member issues.
Build underwriter scorecards and monitors credit quality by ensuring underwriters are underwriting within guidelines, adhering to policy, demonstrating good judgement and decisioning loans within their authority. Utilizes scorecards for performance mentoring as necessary.
Balance the underwriting team’s workload, schedules, and day-to-day operations of the team by staying current with regulatory requirements and ensures loans are underwritten in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements (for example: Fair Lending Act).
Communicate and respond to internal and external members, vendors, retail leadership, and dealer partners to ensure an outstanding experience and provide a good understanding of the department’s responsibilities.
Provide information and underwrites all employee consumer loan applications. Responsible for monthly employee loan review meeting with Senior Lending Leadership.
Schedule, facilitate and participate in bi-weekly underwriter loan review meetings. Analyzes loan reports to aid in generating the selection of loans to review.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
This role might be right for you if you have:
High school diploma or GED.
5 years of consumer and/or home equity underwriting experience.
5 years of prior leadership experience.
Strong critical thinking with the ability to identify different types of risk based on internal training and understanding of lending regulations
Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, planning skills problem solving and organizational skills
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors/clients, and members.
Ability to motivate or influence others using a significant level of diplomacy and trust.
Demonstrates flexibility and objectivity in responding to business needs.
Regulatory knowledge of RESPA, REG B, Fair Lending, CFPB.
Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) eligibility. If not licensed, will license within 90 days.
